Semi Weekly Reflections – Week 13

    Prompt:

What is the relationship between your Research essay and your MMT? In your response, be sure to compare the rhetorical situation of each.

My MMT or Multi-Modal Transformation is to be a simplified version of my research paper.  My research paper is for academics, specifically because academics read 8-page papers. Also, the tone in the research paper is a bit complex and serious. The MMT shares some similarities since the information is the same in both formats. Just in the MMT, the audience is young adults, not specifically academics. The information is still informative but, it’s supposed to be easier to consume than the research paper. The way this gets translated is mainly by limiting the amount of information I’m giving, to only the information that’s necessary to understand the MMT and Systematic Racism in general. The tone is still serious, but because of the topic itself, the main thing is that the audience has changed, so the information is mainly simplified for the audience. Besides, MMT had a flashy presentation compared to the paper, where it’s hard to make a difference in the presented information without changing exactly how your word the information. This flashy presentation again is a hope to capture young adults versus academics who don’t mind reading long research papers.
